Handbells are for EVERYONE. You don’t have to be an amazing singer or have previous experience to ring handbells. You just need to be able to count, able to lift a bell, and ready to learn. Previous piano experience is helpful, but not necessary. We are looking for 15 people ages 15-99. If you are interested, please contact Paige Erickson at firstname.lastname@example.org
Sponsored by the Highland City Arts Council
AUDITIONS ARE WEDNESDAY, AUG 29 at 7. 5378 W 10400 N.
Please plan on being there for the whole 2 hours. There will be instructions on bells ringing, a short rhythm test, and we will ring together. We need 13-15 ringers.
You do not need previous bell ringing experience. Anyone who can count can ring bells!
Handbells are laid out like piano keys, with each person responsible for just the few notes in front of them. Handbells offer a unique opportunity to learn music and teamwork together. While each ringer has only certain assigned notes, he or she must learn to depend on, and be dependable to those who ring all the other notes! Otherwise, we have lots of bells ringing — but no music! Every ringer is vitally important. Ringers must commit to being at rehearsals and performances on time.
We will rehearse WEDNESDAYS from 7-9 pm at the Highland City Arts Center, 5378 W 10400 N. Only 2 absences are allowed each season, and if possible, you will need to find a substitute to ring for you.
There is an $85 participation fee, which covers music, a t-shirt, and some equipment.
Performances are scheduled for December 12 for our Christmas concert, and a performance at the festival of trees the last week of November. I do not know yet the date and time, but I’m going to try for Wednesday or Thursday evening. Eventually, we will add more performances as people realize how awesome we are—goals.
If you have questions, or cannot come on August 28, please let me know so we can arrange for some other time.

I am excited to start working with you!
